In order to join the United States Navy you must be between the ages of 17 and 34. If you are younger than 18 years of age then parental consent is required to have a military job in the Navy. You must either be a citizen of the United States or meet other requirements if not a citizen (check official Navy website for current requirements). You cannot be a single parent and enlist in the Navy. You cannot have more than two dependents. You must be able to meet all of your current financial obligations with the pay you would receive if you were accepted. You must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. occasionally, and only when they score very high on their ASVAB, a non-high school graduate is accepted. Recruits must be able to pass urinalysis tests and pass the checks the Navy makes into criminal history and citizenship status.
