Some of the military bases are quite large, and contain several military branches and joint operations. Some bases are small and only have a few staff members. Here are some of the different United States Military bases:
Andrews Air Force Base
Joint Base Andrews Naval Air Facility Washington is best known as Andrews Air Force Base. It is located just outside of Washington D.C., in Maryland, and it is the home of the private airplane of the President of the United States, Air Force One. This base provides security of the nation's capital.
Marine Corps Base Campe LeJeune
Camp LeJeune is one of the largest military training bases in the United States military. It has been open since 1941, and is located in North Carolina. The base is home to approximately 150,000 people, and it maintains combat-ready units for expeditionary deployments.
Naval Station Guantanamo Bay
This naval station is the only United States military base that is located in a communist country. It is located in Cuba, however, as Guantanamo Bay is on land that is leased to the United States from the government of Cuba, it is technically considered United States soil. Guantanamo Bay is also 'Gitmo,' the home to Iraq War detainees. Gitmo provides Homeland Security, and necessary supplies to the naval fleet, such as fuel.
Yuma Proving Ground
Yuma Proving Ground is larger than the state of Rhode Island. It contains six airfields and testing facilities for practically every weapon in the military grounds force. It conducts tests on vehicles, artillery, bombs, and weapons.
